Accounting & Payroll Associate

Description

What you will do: The Accounting & Payroll Associate will support the financial and administrative operations of our growing multi-service firm. This role will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, payroll processing, and supporting internal HR and recruiting functions.

Key responsibilities - Working Directly with Director of Finance:
 
Accounting
• Full-cycle accounting for multiple entities
• Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable postings
• Multiple bank and credit card reconciliations
• Inter-company postings and reconciliations
• Cheque preparation, printing & deposits
• General Ledger maintenance
• HST remittances and reconciliations
• Preparing, issuing and posting client invoices
• Data entry in accounting system
Payroll:
• Process payroll for salaried, hourly, commission and contractor employees
• Process and distribute annual employee tax documents
• Update and maintain the payroll system such as entering new hire information, terminations, salary adjustments, issue ROEs
• Prepare various reports and retrieve data from the HR system
• Assist with the development and maintenance payroll administration procedures and maintain payroll records
• Responsible for monthly and annual EHT filing
• Respond to all employee queries related to payroll
• Accurately perform bonus calculations based on weighted KPIs on a quarterly basis
• Understand and interpret pay policies (e.g., vacation, overtime, calculations based on deductions, withholding exemptions, etc.
 
Benefits:
• Act as the first point of contact for enquires related to group benefit plans
• Coordinate plan changes as per employee requests
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive personnel records and update when required
• Administer group insurance including enrollment, contribution, changes and terminations
• Liaise directly with the Benefit Providers
 
 
Key responsibilities - Working Directly with Director of Operations and Director of Finance:
 
HR & Recruiting Support:
• Assist with posting job openings and coordinating recruitment activities
• Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process
• Support onboarding of new employees including documentation and system setup
• Maintain employee records and HR documentation
• Assist with maintaining internal HR policies and procedures
• Support tracking of employee information including vacation, leave, and employment updates
 
Administrative & Operational Support
• Maintain organized financial and HR records
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with internal policies
• Assist with improving internal processes related to payroll, accounting, and HR administration
• Support leadership with ad hoc administrative or operational tasks as required

Compensation

$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
